Paula Darois Verlicco, a largely self taught artist has been greatly influenced by the Chiaroscuro painters David Lefel, Greg Kruetz, and the late Helen Van Wyk. She paints in oils having grown over the years to appreciate their richness and vitality. Her work in still-life has been described as “elegant and serene in the style of the Old World Masters.” Fellow artists consider her “an artist in the traditional sense of the Boston School.” .
She credits her ability to think artistically to studies with artist Gred Kruetz at the Scottsdale Artist School in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was at this time that she decided to seriously pursue
her life-long dream of becoming a professional artist.
Ms. Verlicco has received numerous art awards and honors including acceptance by jury into the prestigious North Shore Art Association in Gloucester Massachusetts. She is a member of the South Shore Art Association in Cohasset, Massachusetts and is represented by South Street Gallery in Hingham, Massachusetts.
Paula is a licenced nurse and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
She has served as a docent art lecturer for the City of Quincy Art Department and enjoys guiding persons with Alzheimer’s Disease and related types of dementia in Expressive Art Therapy.
Paula is the author of several non-fiction short stories and is currently writing her first mystery novel.
